War Crimes

A few years ago, I saw a movie that would become one of my favorites, V for Vendetta. There are a myriad of reasons why it became one of my favorites, but the underlying reason is something that Evey said, “Artists use lies to tell the truth, while politicians use them to cover the truth up.” This quote has stuck with me since I saw the movie and has shaped the way I write. That is why I mainly put the stories I write in Fantasy or Science Fiction; It makes it easier for me to use lies to tell my truth.

Because I don’t adhere to genre boundaries, War Crimes aspires to be a Literary Science Fantasy Novel that focuses on the surface themes of betrayal and corruption during war and times of crisis. Beneath the surface, it is making subtle social commentary through a twisted mirror on sexism, racism, and rape culture from the experiences and perceptions of the main character.
